Senior Financial Analyst / Finance Manager - Los Angeles, CA (National Headquarters)

Job Responsibilities: The Senior Financial Analyst / Finance Manager Acts as the primary liaison to the Development department and prepares budgets for grant proposals and programs, tracks all funding with regards to expenses, prepares financial reports for funders, and performs variance to budget analysis in conjunction with program staff. Performs Contract Management to determine revenue coverage by program and by fiscal year; recognizes contracted expenditures as they incur; and ensures compliance with Financial Accounting Standard Board Pronouncement No. 116 "Accounting for Contributions Received and Contributions made" (FASB 116). Assists with the management of business operations of MALDEF Property Management Corporation Including, but not limited to: leasing commercial office space, reviewing tenant lease contracts, and handling building services (security, housekeeping, etc.) billing issues. Reviews engineering and maintenance recommendations made by Building Engineer, and when necessary, will solicit input from third party expert resources. The Senior Financial Analyst / Finance Manager assists the Vice President of Finance/CFO with developing, managing and periodically reviewing and assessing financial control systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and also assists with the development of the annual budget and prepares reports and analyses of budget variances.

Requirements: Must have a Bachelors Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or related field. Active Certified Public Accountant License required. Minimum 6 years experience in related position is required. Prior supervisory experience is required. Must have outstanding organizational and administrative skills, including ability to interact with staff, elected and appointed officials, corporate/business representatives, and the general public. Excellent computer skills, particularly with accounting and spreadsheet software; skill in performing office automation duties using software applications such as spreadsheets, electronic mail, database management, and accounting software is a must. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with particular attention to detail and accuracy, are required. Strong analytical and problem solving skills required; and must be able to handle multiple tasks and to organize and prioritize a heavy workload efficiently.

Bilingual Receptionist (On Call) - Los Angeles, CA

Job Responsibilities: The Bilingual Receptionist is responsible for staffing the front desk of a busy law office simultaneously managing incoming calls, greeting and announcing guests, accepting packages and mail, performing general clerical duties, and maintaining daily staff sign-in records. Receives visitors and provides organizational information to guests and community members. Processes and distributes incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and faxes; opens, stamps, and sorts mail. Performs miscellaneous clerical work of a type that can be performed while balancing receptionist duties and provides administrative support and coordination of special events. Responsible for scheduling public meeting rooms, communicating with building services staff to ensure that rooms and required equipment are set up, and collecting room rental fees. May compose and prepare correspondence and memoranda from brief instructions, or on own initiative depending on need. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements: Minimum high school graduation or GED and one (1) year experience in reception and clerical work is required. Up to 6 months formal verifiable training in reception and secretarial work can be substituted for up to 6 months experience. Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish and be able to seamlessly switch back and forth between both languages. Must be knowledgeable of general office practices and procedures, computer and office machine operations, data entry, electronic mail, telephone etiquette, letter and report writing, basic bookkeeping, and filing systems. The successful candidate will be able to collect and relay information with diplomacy balanced with assertiveness. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to interact in appropriate, professional manner with high level business leaders, donors, administrators, volunteers, and staff both on the phone and in person. Proficiency in English language usage, grammar, spelling, and syntax to compose, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, and written materials is essential. A working knowledge of the Internet as well as Windows and Microsoft Office computer programs including: Word, Excel, and Outlook are required. Must be detail oriented with the ability to work under constant interruption by telephone and visitors. Availability to work on short notice for up to 8 hours per day is required.
